Vale Barry Luxton

Barry Luxton

As many in the industry may already know, Barry Luxton sadly passed away suddenly on 19 December 2015.

Barry was involved in the construction industry over the last four decades, retiring from Luxton Plant nearly ten years ago. He began his career in stockbroking, moved into mining, then professional shark fishing followed by second-hand earthmoving sales. Working from a caravan, he started selling equipment from a small yard in Springvale and then moved the business to Dandenong in the late 70s. In 1988, he started a new rental equipment business with his son Andrew with just one roller. In 2006, Barry sold his half of the business to Andrew but continued to show great interest in all aspects of Luxton Plant including owning some of the bulldozers.

His adventurous spirit knew no boundaries, and outside work and in retirement, he enjoyed his great passions including surfing, skiing and sailing. He sailed across Bass Strait many times, the east coast of Australia to Lord Howe Island, and New Zealand to Australia.

He will be dearly missed by his sons Andrew and Carl and daughter Katrina as well as the extended family at Luxton Plant.
